Somewhere on Pinterest, I saw something like this, "If you store your food in a refrigerator, if you put your clothes in a closet, if you sleep on a bed,and if you have a roof over your head, you are richer than 75% of the world." When I saw this, I just sat for a minute, stunned.I mean, I knew this, but if you think about the context of what it's saying, it kind of makes you feel-well, rich.
And that's what we are. We are so rich. Maybe not physically, but spiritually. We have the Bible, and we can read it freely without worrying whether someone will see us or not. In fact, most people have more than one copy of the Bible in their homes. We are so blessed, yet, do we even realize it half the time? We take so many things for granted. Imagine what your life would be like if you didn't have this and this and this. ('This' is some earthly possession that you own) Imagine the people in third-world countries. They are so poor, yet some of them who are Christians are so happy. Sometimes the things that the world gives us can be good, but we have to make sure we're not letting those things take our focus away from God.
Let me share this with you. A couple years ago, I went overseas for a month. It was just for a visit to some of my friends. When I got there, I was so sad by the harsh reality the poor had to live in. One day, me and my friend were walking down the streets, shopping. We passed this old man who had a mutilated arm or leg,I can't remember.
He was sitting in this little motor-operated wheelchair thingy. You know
sometimes at stores they have those things for people who have
some disease with their leg to shop? Well, it was like that except it
wasn't like really high, it was like an inch off the ground. His
clothes were horrible and his basket was filled with a few little things
: A pear, a coin, and something else. I was so overcome with pity. I told my friend we should stop, and she's like, 'Oh no!' *scratches head. OK?* I'm not trying to make you feel bad. I'm just saying that there is a worthy cause out there that your money could go for :)
What are we doing? We have all the comforts that we could possibly have, and do we realize that in the same world we live in, there are a people who would give their right arm for what we live in?
So let's just think about that today. We are so blessed, and even if we don't seem rich compared to others, that's not true! We have so much more that 75% of the world, PLUS we have Jesus Christ as out Lord and personal Savior :) What more could we possibly want?
i love this! Its so true.
