Washington, D.C. + Recently

17 May 2016

Helllooo! Today I am here with just a bunch of random things that I've been doing lately...because, right now, I've sunken into a state of study/finals/whatislife and I figured this post > no post.

also FINALS.  ughhh.  i guess it's okay though, because that means Summer is right around the bend, and in a sense, I CAN'T WAIT, and in another way, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to face it.  If everything could've stayed the same, then it would have been so much more easier, but, it hasn't, and I don't know why.  but you got enough that in my last post.  *ahem*

MOVING ON.   Recently, some of my friends (more like a whole bunch of human beings and I was one of them) and me took a bus and went to tour the capital of the United States -- Washington, D.C.  Um, and I use the term "tour" very, VERY lightly...it was not a tour, it was a trip in which you learn to know every nook and cranny of the bus and sleep and do crazy things and take the dumbest selfies/photoshoots and eventually sleep like a rock ON THE BUS.  Key words: ON THE BUS. I repeat: On. The.Bus.   arrrggghhhh.....so in all actuality, half the trip was a bus trip. yay.
So let me back up: this thing was planned for a long time, and we weren't really planning on changing the date if it was super rainy.  WHY PEOPLE WHY.  They were just really annoyingly wet and damp days, with scattered drizzling and overcast skies.  Anyway, of course you couldn't notice any of this when you get up in a totally different state at an unearthly hour to get ready.  *ahem* So we got on the bus, and the intitial excitement of going on a road trip and bla bla was pretty great.  Sort of.  Because fifteen minutes later: "ARE WE ALMOST THERE YET???"
no.
Eventually, after a long time, we finally arrived.  *insert squealing* Though, I probably should mention, we did stop in at the  Lincoln Memorial when we finally got to D.C. before lunch.  But it was raining, so we really didn't get to do much. Snapped a few pictures, looked around, and tried Pinterest copy-cat poses.  Quite interesting.  We were also going to head into a few museums then, but the lines were extremely long so we skipped that.  (We also skipped like a bunch of walking tours too earlier.) After lunch, we did one fun thing....we visited the National Air and Space Museum.  And quite honestly, that was really, really fun.  History is something I love learning about, and all those airplanes were pretty cool.  THE BLACKBIRD ♥ (that's like the only airplane ever that I genuinely like :)

Dinner was Chinese and then we headed home, which was a very fun experience.  ha.  Let me just say that the bus ride home was filled with lots of laughter, silliness, singing (which actually went good), and lots of good energy. Honestly, nothing compares with being with a whole bunch of people you know and singing out in the middle of the night in a bus on the highway..... So -- ultimately, even though we didn't get do a lot of what we had planned, it went amazing! (GOD IS GOOD.) And....here are MORE pictures.

  ^^^ The Arlington National Cemetery

 Iwo Jima

Lincoln Memorial (it's really annoying because I can't show you half the pictures I took since they have people I know on them :-)
 Washington Monument

^^^^^That was a super cool old time 1920s WWI fighter airplane.  LIKE MODERN YO.

^^^^The Enola Gay (I think, maybe WWII?? I might be wrong on that one.)

THE BLACKBIRD ♥ DOES IT NOT LOOK SO FREAKING COOL GUYS. stealth, night, secret missions, incredible photo capabilities.... EEEEEEK.

I also got to try my hand at churning ice cream too for the first time.  I've made homemade ice cream before  in a ice cream maker, but we actually decided to make ice cream with a thing where you manually churn it by turning the handle around and around.  EXHAUSTING.  And guess what? It was a dud.  The ice cream never thickened, and it was a fail :-( xD But oh well, now I think I can cross that off my bucket list.

So what have you guys been up to lately? I feel like I've lost connection with the blogging world, so hopefully this summer I can do more upkeep on this blog (Hint: AUTUMN, YOU COULD FINISH THE dESIGN.)  What are you going to do this summer?  Does it feel like summer? (We just got a frost last night, so, um, yeah.  That was unexpected.)

have a wonderful day and keep smiling =)

  3. Maaan. Like, being in a bus full of peeps that you care about, in the rain, going on an adventure that involves sight seeing and ultimately Chinese food??? that's pretty dang golden.

ALSO the National Air and Space Museum!!! So many good memories there. My family and I went like a year or so ago while on vacation. Seeing the space shuttle was like aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh 0_0 so cool. And all the planes. And just everything.

    1. YES YES YES you summed it perfectly. i mean... CHINESE. but just everything about the experience was golden...including being stuck in traffic for two hours. ha.

YES THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I didn't really think that I would like it as much as I did. It was so amazing. SO COOL. I'm sure you guys loved it! "And just everything" TRUTH.

  5. Welcome to DC springs (rain, rain, and more rain)! It's pretty much that way every year: unavoidably depressing rain.

The National Air & Space Museum is my favorite of all the museums in the DC area. And yeah, the Blackbird is pretty sweet! But my favorite plane is the Enola Gay (it was the plane that dropped the atomic bombs which helped end WWII).

    1. haha...yeah. springs always have their ups-and-downs. But it's still awesome <3 oh well, at least, april showers bring may flowers or something like that xD

GOOD SO I WENT TO THE BEST ONE I AM SO RELIVED RIGHT NOW. We had planned on the Holocaust (I wanted to see that one so BADLY), and the Smithsonian and another one, but they were all wayy too full and the lines were like extremely long so we didn't :-( THE BLACKBIRD IS SO BEAUTIFUL <3 yeah, the tenth picture up from the bottom was one of the Enola Gay. BOTH of them were amazing. AVIATIONNNNN

  7. FHDKLSJDJAK SO YUS WHAT KATIE SAID WE WENT TO THAT AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM OMGGGG <3 THE SPACE SHUTTLE. THE BLACKBIRD (YUSYUSYUS TO THE BLACKBIRD) AND JUST ALL THE PLANNNNNESSS. << i'm a total aviation geek, in case that wasn't obvious. XD It looks like you guys had so much fun!! Sometimes the best trips aren't all planned and plotted out -- they just sort of happen and happen awesomely at that. ;)

    1. AAAAAH THAT IS SO COOOOOL!Yeah, the Discovery space shuttle was really epic. THE BLACKBIRD RIGHT??? You like AVIATION???? EEEEEEK :) It was definitely an awesome time! I loved touring the place and seeing all these old, old planes. Like, the people who lived way back then, really, really, thought that that was so modern, how could it get better? Technology just keeps advancing, like, WOAH.

ALSO TRUE. sometimes the best memories come from the times you don't plan them.

  8. Your pictures are so captivating! I love them!

A few years ago, I went to DC with a bus too. It ended up snowing bad enough to close down all the streets on the one day that was meant to be our "tourist day". We had to spend the entire day in our hotel. It kind of sucked but we got to play games and watch movies (on the bright side)!

  11. First off, I want to go to D.C. So bad! I love museums, and visiting the ones in D.C. would actually scratch off one of the many things off my bucket list. (Aggggghhhh the National Air and Space Museum!) Also, I KNOW THE STRUGGLES OF TAKING PHOTOS BUT PEOPLE YOU KNOW ARE IN THEM SO YOU CAN'T POST. Over seventy-five percent of my photograph consists of people I know, and I'm just like, "But this is such a good picture!" *sobs*

Hopefully, that won't be a problem once I get back. I'm on vacation right now and thought I wouldn't have much wifi connection, but my parents just willingly gave me the wifi password, which is a shocker.

    xoxo Morning

    1. I've wanted to too for such a long time, and I'm really glad I got the opportunity! But I wasn't too happy that we had to skip out on a lot of the museums and tours we had originally planned, but yeah well. At least we saw the NASM. It was such an incredible experience <3 I KNOW RIGHT THE STRUGGLE IS REALLLLL.
AWWW THAT'S SO AWESOME! Can't wait to hear about it!

  14. AHH SO MUCH FUN. And also... uncomfortable. I would be horrible at sleeping on a bus and that would probably be a nightmare. I can't even sleep on the floor with a sleeping back. BUT IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE TONS OF FUN AND MANY MEMORIES. <3

I'm probably going to DC in the fall so it's very exciting that you had a good timeee. Glad to see another post. ^.^
