pumpkin spice frappuccino | simple recipe

03 November 2015

Hey guys :) So a while back, talking like a month back, i tried to recreate the pumpkin spice frappuccino (which is basically just a drink that this coffee shop called Starbucks made and is super popular during the fall months) after tasting the one at Starbucks.  There were plenty of recipes online, so after tweaking the recipe here and there i achieved a drink that i liked pretty good.

you know that website i was talking about a while back - Chocolate Covered Katie? Well, she had a recipe for a mocha frappuccino of sorts a while back, and mm, that is SO good.  I made it literally like five times.  i'm serious. so really, to make a pumpkin spice frappuccino isn't that far off from a mocha one.  frappuccinos are so delicious, partly because they're just a sweet, iced drink, and also because they have that kick of coffee in them.  Honestly, i hate coffee by itself, but in something like this, it's really not that bad.

lately i've been posting more recipes, so what do you guys think of that? you should definitely give this one a try and taste it.  it's not that bad actually.  and if you're not a big fan of pumpkin-y stuff either, you could totally just make it without the pumpkin and add cocoa for a mocha one.  i mean, that's what i do 99.9% of the time.  so yeah. super delicious.

mmm.

PUMPKIN SPICE FRAPPUCCINO

1 3/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 - 1 1/2 c. chilled coffee
1/4 c. pumpkin puree
3 tbsp. of sweetener of choice (i used xylitol, you can use sugar, maple syrup, agave, or stevia etc.)
1/4 tsp. cinnamon.
1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

First of all, you're going to brew your coffee and refrigerate it overnight.  If you have very cold coffee already, then you  don't have to, but make sure the coffee you're using is very cold.  Set aside, and in a mixing bowl, stir together your milk, vanilla extract, pumpkin puree, sweetener, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice.  Once it is well combine, transfer it to an ice cube tray.  Then set the trays in the freezer overnight.  When you are ready to make the frappuccino, put your ice cubes and coffee into a blender and whip it up.  If your blender isn't mixing it thoroughly, you might need to add more milk.  Taste the frappuccino once it's done, and see if you need to add more spices, sweetener, or pumpkin.  Top with whipped cream and garnish with spices, if desired, and serve immediately.

After making your coffee, you're going to want to mix the frappe ingredients together.  It turns out into this orange-ish color, as you can see.  When making a frappuccino, you're going to want the milk mix to be almost a little too sweet.  When you freeze it and then blender it, if you want to retain that sweetness, just add a little extra when you first make it.

And then transfer to ice cube trays.  When I made it, I almost filled two ice cube trays, so obviously I didn't use all of it at once.  I made this frappe like twice with all the cubes I got.  Some people just make the frappe and add ice cubes, but what that does is that it really waters your drink down, which is not we're going for.  I mean, that's what McDonald's does, not us. -_-

Okay okay, I only said that because the first time I ever tried a frozen drink at McDonald's, it was so watered down and disgusting.  Not my favorite.

Alright, so fast forward to the next day.  I generally like to keep my ice cubes in the freezer overnight, that way I know for certain that they're hardened.  This is perfect to do on Sunday night and have it ready to go Monday morning.  After removing the ice cubes from the tray, all you have to do is pop it into your blender.   I use the VitaMix, which is a really tough blender, but even so, a few times I've had to add a little milk.  Unless you want to be like soft serve ice cream, which, I guess, isn't so bad either.

And then for our coffee :) So you can add as much or as little as you want.  I prefer mine with plenty of coffee, because it just makes it taste so much better.  But if you really hate coffee in all forms, this frappe is good without it.  You just might need to add milk when whipping it up, since the coffee is really what helps this to blend nicely.  So pour your cold coffee in, and then turn on the blender.

And YES! You get a wonderful, healthy pumpkin pie frappuccino that tastes almost like the real deal.  You can top it with whipped cream (I highly recommend it) and sprinkle cinnamon on top.  #pictureworthy

i hope you guys liked this post and i'll see ya next time xx

p.s. keep smiling. ♥
p.p.s  this is a scheduled post that i wrote on the weekend, and i accidentally published it and then deleted it, so you might have known this post was already coming ^_^

{ my fall bucket list }

11 October 2015

hey guys :) so, i'm not sure where you live, so you might be heading into summer (in which case...um...awesomeness) or you might be heading into fall and winter.  And honestly, summer will always be favorite season, but fall and autumn is seriously one of the most beautiful seasons.  In some ways, fall almost is better than summer, but, nah, i'm still sticking to summer.  though, autumn's scents, spices, and styles are hands down the greatest.
fall fashion is definitely the most awesome; i love all the layering and the trends are well, trendy and modest at the same time.  win win.  ^-^ also, spices and pumpkin and sugar and everything nice...yes, just yes.  so.

today i decided to throw together a fall bucket list (honestly, how did the term "bucket list" even become a thing? why not mop list?) and see if i would be able to complete them.  i love doing smaller goals like these, because really, looking at my bucket list board on pinterest is pretty overwhelming.  okay, wayyy too overwhelming.  so i really love doing these ♥

supreme bucket list:

#1  this is really just totally a fall thing.  along with apple picking.  but really, i just want to do the caramel thing this year.  actually, i found a recipe online on how to make caramel, and i want to maybe try that out.  i think that would be super fun.

#2  drink apple cider.  okay, you know what, this i could cross off already.   i mean i shouldn't even have it on, but i'll just keep it on so that when i recap this i can say i did all of these things.  i literally made apple cider and drank it, so, like yeah.  #homemadecider

 :

#3  oh yeah.  this is totally on my bucket list.  i'm guessing the majority of it will be done over black friday weekend? yeah, probably.  though, i did go to the mall like two weeks ago and i got this awesome flannel from aeropostale that reminds me of pinterest and fall, so that's my new staple ^_^  but in general, this one i don't really need to, because in all actuality, i really don't need more clothes.  if i can just be thankful for the stuff i have now, i think i'll be set.  but hey, i'm not going to complain about shopping.

#4  bake pumpkin pie.   for sure.  for sure.  i love pumpkin pie, and i really want to find a really good recipe to make it this year.

 :

#5 this would be the bomb if it would actually happen, but i'm guessing that 9 chances out of 10 this is probably not going to happen.  but it might.  we'll see.  honestly though, do you know how cool this would be it it would happen?

done. XD:

#6 i'm literally, literally laughing right now.  i don't know why though.  but, i am SO going to do this this fall.  just yes.  i will.  =)

Did this once before but my taste has change since. Need to try it again:

#7 just goes to the prove that the best of us mess up too.  after scouring pinterest and tumblr for a picture like that one ^^, i still could only find one that wanted to try pumpink spice lattes....i never tried one of those, have you? yeah, actually, i don't even think Starbucks carries pumpink stuff.  hmm.
But yeah ^_^ i really think it would be fun to try the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks.  i just tried the frappuccino version of it yesterday when i was at barnes & nobles, and it was literally so good.  speaking of which, i decided to do a post on how to make a pumpkin spice frappuccino soon, so keep an eye out for that.

+++

so that's it! what's on your bucket list for this fall? something that always makes me smile around this time of this year is all the autumn posts popping up, they always make me smile.  :) anyways, so yeah.  umm...so yeah....yesterday, like aforementioned, i went to barnes & nobles (it's a really big bookstore with a starbucks in it.)  in vain hopes of "studying" for school, but, really, with all the books they carry, i got a little sidetracked.  i did study a bit though. ^_^ but yeah, i spent a lot of time in the "Christian Motivational" (or whatever it's called) section, flipping through a bunch of inspirational books.   Every Day a Friday was one that I really loved.  I probably would've got it, but, yeah well.  i think that bookstore is one of my favorite places to be =)

anyways, so i guess that wraps up this post and i hope you have a wonderful, happy day.

Reversed Bucket List -- 15 Things I've Done

10 February 2016

hey guys :) how are you doing? I know I haven't posted in a little while, but guys, I have one word -- school.  yeah.  school.  yippee.  you know that speech I was talking about for like, forever, on here?  like how I had to get my speech ready, practice it, bla bla bla? yeah, well, last week, I gave it.

da dun dun dun dun.
and this should be the part where either something extremely funny happened or I was just super confident and wasn't nervous at all and I went up there and aced it.

yeah, well neither of that happened.  actually, the day I was scheduled to give my presentation, I was giving it with another girl in class.  like, she was doing her presentation first, then it was me.  so, she got up there and was ready to give it, when a whole other class comes in to listen to us.   ummm.  #awkwardmoment  um, so yeah.  I had gotten myself to a point where I was like, "You know, this won't be bad.  God is by my side, the angels are watching over me, and all I'm gonna do is go up there and talk about stuff. no one cares except me." yeah, well that sort of disappeared when all these other people showed up to listen.  but, somehow, I gathered up all the courage left and prayed so earnestly and I went up there and gave my presentation.  my voice may have shaken, I may not have had the best eye contact, but it's over now, I didn't do the worst job ever, and God was with me.  What more could I want, right? :)

okay, so onto today's post.  I figured today would be the perfect day to type up a blog post.  The snow is falling outside, the woods are coated with white, i'm all cozy writing this post, and aromas of a delicious meal are coming from the kitchen.  #blessed
WHY AM I RAMBLING ALL OVER THE PLACE.  okay.  today's post is inspired by the amazing Aliah over at Indigo Ink, and you definitely ought to go check her out.  her blog is so lovely and pretty.  :) she recently did a post like this, where she listed a whole list of things that she already did that were on her bucket list, and I just thought that that was an amazing idea.  because how many times have I posted on here things on my bucket list? probably like, I don't know, three times? haha, yeah, so I figured that this is a way better thing to do, since it focuses on things that I've gotten done, which, now that I look at it, compared to everything on my goals, isn't very much.  but oh well, little by little.  :)

1.  Tried pumpkin spice latte.  Wow, this seems so trivial.  Honestly, compared to all the world's problems, I wanted to try a pumpkin spice latte? ^_^ anyways, so yes.  I tried a pumpkin spice Frappuccino (I figure that's close enough), and then I consequently made a healthier, homemade version and posted it here on the blog.  Check it out HERE :)
2. Grown my own food.  Been there, done that.  Every year I have a garden and grow stuff, so...
3.  Had a nice garden.
4.  Been an inspiration to others.
5.  I have milked a cow.  Actually, I've done this more than once.  definitely not gonna be my full-time job....but, it isn't all that bad I suppose.
6.   I have made a memories album
7.  I have created a tumblr.  haha, yeah, I did do this.  I just never use it hardly. ..though, I think part of the problem is I don't really know what to do with it soooo.....
8.  I have traveled overseas.
9.  I have earned another language.  If you count my non-fluent Spanish.
10.  I have gone snowboarding.
11.  I have seen the sun set over the ocean.
12.  Experienced zero gravity.
13.  Ridden in an helicopter.
14.  Ridden a horse on the beach.
15.  Been to the Niagara Falls.

so this was probably like super lame...but, i'm really tired and it's a school night, so what can i say? plus, i haven't gotten a ton of stuff crossed off my bucket list yet, so.... hehe....yeah.  so i'll wrap this post up now i suppose. what do you think of the new font? yay or nay? also, GUYS, you know that magazine i was talking about a while back....the one me and my friend were putting together?  we like got it printed out and sent it to a ton of our friends ;) EEEP.

and the best thing about this magazine is that i'm the editor/designer, SO I MEAN YEAH HELLO DREAM JOB.

we'll just see where this magazine goes though.  i don't know.  ^_^

have a wonderful day/night wherever you are and keep smiling :)

okay, seriously, can we just make it official? i'm never, ever, ever, EVER doing this type of post again.  UGHHHH.
let me explain.  i probably just spent like one hour trying to format all those links and texts up there ^^^ to look right on the blog.  being a perfectionist is not fun.  like dude, seriously. that was awful. i mean, don't get me wrong, i love doing end of year catch-up posts, but i think next year (Lord willing.  *ahem*) i'm just going to do a post in which i just write out what the year was like. yeah, that sounds sooo much better.

(but like yeah i hope you liked looking through all the old posts of this year)

+++

anyways, yeah, 2015. wow. can i begin to explain this year? i don't think i can.  it was a growing year for me.  no, not just physically.  spiritually and emotionally too. i've learned a lot more about God and what He wants me to do with my life for Him, and learning how to let go of what will drag me down if i try to hold on any longer.  i've learned that the strongest people don't always fight their battles where everyone sees them, but rather when no one sees them. and, basically just learning more about life.  it's been a beautiful year, when i look back.  i mean, okay, maybe the beginning of the year was a little rocky (fine, maybe more like crazy rocky), but even through those storms, i think that if i came out stronger, then that was worth it.  God doesn't always teach His lessons in fields of sunflowers and daffodils (okay that was a weird description); sometimes He teaches them in the trials of life.

and you know how they always say to pick a word or something to center the new year on? well, i haven't exactly decided on a word yet, but i've deemed 2016 to be a year of miracles.  there's a lot of stuff happening in my life that without a miracle, it would be totally impossible for any man to change or do.  so, honestly, i'm looking forward to what God has in store for 2016.  i think it's going to be a miraculous, amazing year.

 what about you?
