SO. Thanksgiving is tomorrow. (I'm sure you knew that... but still.) Is that not crazy? I've always felt that once it hits Thanksgiving, time flies till you're at Christimas/New Year, and then there's those real winter months. Not sure how I feel about that yet.
I am super excited about the upcoming season, but at the same time I also want to make sure I stop and admire the beauty around me in every step of the way. There's no way I want to let everything slide past me just because I'M BUSY. I am busy, but I want to still live in the moment.
I had the idea to write this post for a long time. I wrote a post similar to this one a few years back called 50 Reasons, and that post took me an eternity and a half to write, so today I'm just going to go through everything I'm thankful for and not expound too much on everything. Honestly, I'm just so thankful to God for everything He's given me, and writing this list made me realize how much we take for granted.
I'm not going to lie, I had imagined Thanksgiving this year to be a lot different, but in a sense, isn't that the point? To be thankful for what we do have, and what we don't have. It's hard, but UM like Thanksgiving is about giving thanks?? Haha, so that's one thing I'm working on this year.
What are some things that you all have learned this year?
1. God. Wow. I have no words, honestly. He has been everything to me this year, and I've learned to trust Him so much. There's so much I could write about this, but since I have 99 things (that are not nearly as important as God because He is God) left to write yet, I'll stop.
2. Family.
3. Friends.
4. Good water. When we moved, the water situation was pretty bad. IT'S A LITTLE THING but is it a big thing.
5. Grace.
6. The first signs of a new season
7. That fact even though you're getting older, God is still the same and He's the purpose for my life.
8. Gratitude
9. Finding confidence in God

DONE. There's my list for you. 100 things I'm thankful for. Writing this made me realize that really -- there are so many little things that we take for granted. There's so many small things that we usually don't think about that if we wouldn't have it would be much more...let's just say inconvenient.
Have you thought about this at all? You should definitely make your own list of things you're thankful for this Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for this year? If you're in America, are you doing anything special for Thanksgiving? I'd love to hear about it!
autumn
This makes me so, so happy. I've actually been planning to start a gratitude journal, kind of in the format of this post.
ReplyDeleteWe don't do anything huge for thanksgiving, but I always love it. :)
Awww seriously? You definitely should! I'd love to hear about it. There are so many things that we can be grateful for.
DeleteHaha, same here. It was good just being with family and friends :)
HAHAH. you had "people who smile back" on here and i was just dyinggg ughh. <3 i was laughing in church the other day and i made eye contact with this girl and she looked away for a second and then looked back (i was still smiling and looking) and then she JUST GAVE ME THE BIGGEST (confused) SMILE BACK. WAWAAAAAAAAAAAAA *heart melts* so good.
ReplyDeleteloved this list. love you. i am thankful for too much to put down in this little comment. but that's okay.
have a good Thanksgiving, sweet Autumn. hope it is precious and abundant with Christ. x
OOH YES XD THAT IS SO THE BEST THING EVER. I know right?? Like sometimes I'll just be laughing about something and someone looks at me and I'm just like "HIII oh that was awkward ok well let's keep smiling" and then it usually works out :)

DeleteShalom! So many great things on this list! My previous comment I goofed (if you could delete it, please - thank you!) Could there be two Autumn's who play violin and love the Creator, etc.? :P I have a friend on Goodreads and I found this link on my friend Mikayla's blog. Anyway, I'm following your cool blog now! :) As I mentioned in the reply I sent too soon just a little bit ago, I'm also so thankful every day for all of the wonderful blessings, big or little. And I believe that's why we're here to praise Him and thank Him. :) You're clearly a cool, nice, wonderful person - that can be seen just from reading your list. :) May the Creator bless you.
ReplyDeleteChaya
Thanks for stopping by, Chaya! Haha, that's totally fine. I do that all the time =) I deleted it, so no worries. xD Yeah, I guess there could be two that do! My real name isn't Autumn though, it's just my online name :) Thank you!! You're so sweet. God is so good and that's the long and short of all of it. May the Lord bless you too xx
DeleteI'm so glad I did - now I have another cool friend named Autumn! :) Thanks for being so nice! :) And I won't get you two confused, you're Autumn Raelin. :) Yes, He sure is. :) <3 Thanks! :)What is your fave song to play on the violin? :)
Delete"Those who actually listen rather than speak." Ah, all of these are good ones. It's extraordinary that all these little things have made our lives better, even if we don't realise it. How lucky is circumstance?
ReplyDeleteIt's a very thoughtful gratitude list. Makes me wish we had Thanksgiving in Australia, it would be a great opportunity. :)
YES that one is so so me. I love those friends who do that. It is pretty amazing how everything makes our lives so much more better, so true. God is so amazing and I honestly don't know what I'd do without Him.
DeletexD Australia's a pretty amazing place though :) But hey, every day can be Thanksgiving, tbh. But it is a great opportunity, yes.
GAH I JUST WANT TO PIN THIS POST AND GO BACK TO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND LOVE IT MORE AND MORE BECAUSE IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY. <3 "The fact that I live in a country where the freedom of speech is allowed." <<< yessss tHIS. I was just thinking about this the other day. We take so many things for granted in America it is so sad. :''') But thanks to lovely posts like this I am reminded of what a fabulous life I have. *hugs you and gives you waffles*
