March Wrap-Up | April Goals

05 April 2017

WELL.  There went March.  BOOM.  And apparently April marks 1/4 of the way through 2017? HAHA YEP WE'RE GOOD.  Definitely not freaking out at all!

Or.....not.

March whizzed by so fast, but it honestly was a month in which so much craziness went down that I'm actually kind of sad that it's over.  April's going to be an amazing month too, but it's still mind blowing how fast the time flies. March was a busy month, but a really good one.  SO.  What even happened this month?

+ I made soft pretzels.  Obviously, as you can probably tell, food is a big part of any month for me so usually I like to start off with that xD BUT THEY WERE GOOD, YO.  Better than mall pretzels any day.

+ National Peanut Butter Lover's Day happened.  To be fair, I didn't even know this was a thing until my Spanish teacher brought it up and literally brought us a ice cream/peanut butter dessert on March 1st.  HOW SWEET IS THAT.

+ A blizzard happened. Yep.  We got a seriously warm winter and the cherry on top was a blizzard.  Not going to lie, I didn't really mind it though, because we got barely an snow at all this winter (which is REALLY strange), and it was in the middle of the week so...those days off were awesome.  I also did a post on it actually, if you want to check it out!

+ I got to attend an open house of my local printing shop.  This was kind of a last minute thing, but I'm so glad I went to it BECAUSE IT WAS SO AWESOME.  Basically there's a print shop that we used to literally live right down the road from, and they were having an open house where they showed off a bunch off their equipment and the basics of how it all works.  But honestly the whole time my mind was thinking about how this could be applied to printing books xD THAT'S THE REAL DEAL.  And it was also crazy how many people I know work there.  wAhT.

+ Read Ecclesiastes.  That book is fire, yo. I reread it this month just because I felt that it was really applicable to what's going on right now in my life, and WOW.  It's so practical, and so true.  AND ALL THE REMINDERS OF THINGS I FORGET.  "Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth..." YEP.  God is good.

+ Last quarter of this school year! It's absolutely INSANE how fast the time flies, and I can't believe that this school year will soon be over.  HOW EVEN?  This year I've started thinking a lot more about the future and you know what, it can be intimidating.  But thankfully I serve an all-knowing God.  So right now I'm just trying to learn to live in the moment and enjoy each day that comes my way.

+ I took a lot more photos.  This was something that I had wanted to work on for a while and I never got around to doing, but I actually picked up my camera more and started taking more pictures this month! WOOT.
+ Read more. lol nope.  I might have read like one or two books, but definitely not enough for what I had in my mind.  It was just a really busy month :)

+ Start my plants for my garden.  This happened! I started them, and what's really funny is that all the zucchini I planted is GROWING CRAZY, but some of the other stuff hasn't even sprouted at all?! LIKE WaHt.  PLANTS, GET WITH IT.

+ WRITE. Ehh....kind of-ish? I seriously should've done a lot more of it, and I really don't think I have much of an excuse.  Although there were a few days I literally made myself sit down and write, and those were good writing days.  So I think I'll cross this one halfway off.

+ Plan things out more/bullet journal. Oh, Autumn, you're hilarious :) This didn't really happen either...because if I don't have enough time to even write, I definitely don't have time to sit around and bullet journal xD

+ Have a good time at the writer's conference.  EEEP SO STOKED ABOUT THIS!!!! It's the same one I went to last year , except this year I'm dragging a friend along with me because trust me, anything is better with friends =D I'm literally SO SO excited for this though and I can't wait!

+ Enjoy the SPRING WEATHER.  Y'all, it's spring.  And surprisingly, it's actually starting to feel like it too, which is QUITE NICE.  So I want to do all the spring-y things, you know? It is April, after all.  The epitome of spring.

+ Just freaking write already.  If you guys have any amazing tips on how to stop being a procrastinator those would be greatly appreciated xD One thing I learned this past month is that I get distracted so easily and that I don't work very much if I'm distracted.  *pounds head* I NEED SOME MAJOR HELP IN THIS DEPARTMENT.  I'm very much a procrastinator, and it's pretty much the worst thing ever *sigh* Also added to the fact I'm a bit of a slower writer anyway? *wail*

+ Read three books.  Because three is better than zero. Also it would probably be a miracle if I'd reach this goal, considering...life ;)

+++

WELL, it's April. Another month.  Another amazing month.  How's it going for you so far? Is the weather nice? Eaten any good cake recently? ANY TIPS ON HOW TO STOP PROCRASTINATING? Let's talk about alll the things :) How's life?

  1. March was a REALLY good reading month for me??? But then I failed writing-wise #oops. This month I'm trying to focus more on writing (I TOTALLY GET YOU ON THE PROCRASTINATING THING) and less on reading, but I've already read 2 books so??? I'm really proud of that though because usually it takes forever for me to finish a book. XD Good luck with everything this April, Autumn! (And a WRITING CONFERENCE COOL.)

    1. OOh that's awesome, May! I get you so much. PROCRASTINATING IS EVIL. Same here! Most of my writing friends zip through writing their books in like a month, but it takes me more than A FEW MONTHS to finish it, tbh. I hope April's great for you!

I love blizzards so much! We just got a lot of rain and fog here, but that's nice as well. Ohhhh my goodness, a print shop sounds sO COOL. And congrats on reading Ecclesiastics! Do you know what book you're going to focus on next, or do you just pick ones to read as you feel inspired?

    1. PRETZELS FTW YO.

Wow, I'm literally replying to these comments so late. That blizzard seems like it was ages ago haha. It's been spring weather these days :) What I usually do is read through a book at a time--a chapter or two a day. That way I can actually read through the Bible and I'm not freaking out all the time about a plan or anything. Have a wonderful day!

  4. Making Pretzels - Totally awesome! I've done an easy version once, and they are awfully fun to shape. Makes me wonder - have you made homemade bagels ever? That's my new favorite thing, but I didn't make any in March. Bother.

I've started some seeds inside. In my bedroom, actually. I wanted them to germinate in there before I put them out in my greenhouse...which blew over last week. Nothing is up yet, but I just did them a week ago. They better show up, though.

I've been doing terrible with distracting myself from writing related stuff, but what really helps is if I set a timer and not do anything else. Plus, then fifteen minutes feels like eternity.

    1. Hmm, I haven't. I don't really LIKE bagels xD BUT IT SOUNDS COOL. You totally need to make them!

DUDE THE GREENHOUSE BLEW OVER?!? That's like pretty major. Was it big? Haha, I know. I hate the stage where you're waiting for them to come up. LIKE JUST DO IT ALREADY.

lol yes thank you for that tip xD

I love that photo of the blizzard - it looks amazing. I wish we had blizzards where we are.
Nice idea to read Ecclesiastes! Maybe I'll also give that a try this month; I've been meaning to read the Bible more and that book will be a cool one to start with :)

Hope April's a wonderful month for you!

  8. Hey Autumn! I've been following your blog for a few months now, but I don't think I've commented yet! Silly me. ;P
April started out as a normal month, then BANG! Now we have so many things to do and plan for it's crazy! My Great-Grandpa died, which brought family from all over the place. So this week has been full with visiting all those people, and this weekend is Calling Hours and the funeral + more visiting family. Next weekend is Easter!! (can you believe it!?) My parents are going on vacation, and six days after they get back I go on a trip with my sisters and cousins, so we've got lots of shopping and stuff to do before that... I've never flown without my parents, or been gone from home as long as we plan!! I'm super excited and nervous all at the same time! lol! ;P
So there's my crazy month of April. It's gonna be so fun!! XD I hope. *nervous laugh*

  12. My deepest sympathies, but I can't help you; I NEED HELP TOO.
Procrastination + slow writer + a lot of stuff happening + CAMP NANO (why do I do that to myself? Every time NaNo comes around? WHY?) = HELP

But it sounds like you had a really amazing, sweet month! ;)

  14. The months have been going by way too fast! But at least it's starting to warm up now (three cheers!!). The stuff in our garden has been growing kinda slow as well. Love the pics, especially the one with snow. So pretty! Ecclesiastes is a really deep book, but insightful for sure.
